Aquatic ecosystems such as streams, ponds and lakes can become degraded for a variety of reasons. In the UK this usually results from habitat removal (such as marginal plants and shade providing trees), shallowing as a result of sediment build-up, the introduction of nutrients from agricultural runoff (fertilsers and/or manure) or decaying vegetation and/or a reduction in flow/water renewal.
Each of these can cause a proliferation of algae which in turn reduces dissolved oxygen, endangering fish, invertebrates and other aquatic animals.
We carry out remediation work throughout Scotland which includes the Western Isles and Argyll, Lochaber, Ardnamurchan and the rest of Highland down to Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.
