Certain lichens and vascular plants are protected in Scotland under Schedule 8 of The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Some species of lichen and vascular plant are rare and are threatened by the loss of habitats through development and are protected by law.
If a development is identified as presenting a risk to protected lichen or vascular plants we can survey the area to identify the risk and propose mitigating measures to ensure they remain undisturbed.
Mitigation measures are site specific and will be assessed in close liaison with Scottish Natural Heritage.
We carry out lichen and vascular plant surveys throughout Scotland which includes the Western Isles and Argyll, Lochaber, Ardnamurchan and the rest of Highland down to Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.
