Phase 1 Habitat Surveys in Argyll, Highland, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire

A Phase 1 habitat survey is undertaken to map an area proposed for development in order to identify any habitats which may require further, species specific, survey work.

All Phase 1 habitat surveys are carried out in accordance with the criteria and methodology set out by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC). We use a standardised format whereby habitats and features are classified and assessed to produce a detailed map of the area with habitats and features clearly marked and points of interest noted for further investigation.

Where necessary an extended Phase 1 habitat survey may be required which provides more detail of the site and any specific habitats.

We are able to carry out phase 1 and extended phase 1 habitat surveys as part of any initial site assessment and if a need for further protected species survey identified, can advise accordingly.

Phase 2 habitat surveys usually concentrate on the plant life of a site and consist of a much more detailed National Vegetation Classification (NVC). In the event that this level of detailed survey is required, TransTech works closely with NVC consultants in our area and can arrange all aspects of habitat survey work you may require.

We carry out Phase 1 habitat surveys throughout Scotland which includes the Western Isles and Argyll, Lochaber, Ardnamurchan and the rest of Highland down to Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.
